General Biology II

Spring Semester
This second course in the biological sciences focuses on the diversity of animal life and the complex interactions that occur between organisms and their environment. Major topics covered include population genetics, evolutionary theory, human evolution, a phylogenetic survey of animals, comparative anatomy of vertebrates, comparative physiology of the major vertebrate organ systems, cellular mechanisms of development, embryology, population and community ecology and future challenges to the biosphere. Laboratory exercises concentrate on comparative anatomy and physiology with a strong emphasis on human biology. (4 Credits)
